Dr. Teri Pokrajac is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with specialized training and experience in the assessment and treatment of trauma-related conditions. Her warm and engaging style incorporates state of the art treatment techniques which are grounded in research, and practical for her clients. Her passion is helping individuals, couples and families move through challenging experiences to find solutions that empower them to live fulfilling and purpose-driven lives. Dr. Pokrajac has extensive experience evaluating PTSD, Sexual Trauma (ie. CSA, incest, clergy abuse) and other forms of trauma for civil and criminal cases involving trauma related questions. Dr. Pokrajac is a qualified court-appointed child custody evaluator for the state of California, and provides forensic assessment and expert witness services for trauma-related issues.

Dr. Pokrajac has expertise in the following conditions: Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Complex PTSD, Dissociative Disorders, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Sexual Disorders, Eating Disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder, and ADD/ADHD.

Dr. Pokrajac also has extensive experience working with individuals seeking personal growth, couples seeking to improve their relationship, divorce recovery, and co-parenting. Dr. Pokrajac is an experienced consultant and trainer for trauma and addiction recovery programs. She has extensive experience supervising licensed and unlicensed therapist and has taught over 100 continuing education courses on Trauma-Related topics.

Dr. Pokrajac is trained in the following treatment approaches: psychodynamic therapy,
cognitive-behavioral treatment, behavioral treatment, exposure therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), hypnosis, ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy), EFT (Emotions Focused Therapy for couples) and mindfulness.

She has a distinctive creative and integrative approach, and she matches the treatment approach to the client's unique needs, personality style, and situation. Dr. Pokrajac has provided consultation and training to GIBTK (Giving it Back to Kids), a nonprofit organization working in Vietnam and Cambodia. She provides training videos on Child Sexual Abuse, Trauma, and general mental health issues.

Dr. Teri Pokrajac is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice in Southern California. Dr. Pokrajac received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, her Masters Degree in Counseling from Loyola Marymount and her B.A. in Psychology and Speech Communication from Pepperdine University. She completed an internship through Tufts Medical School/Boston V.A. where she received specialized training in the assessment and treatment in PTSD from the National Center for PTSD and also received specialized training in assessment and treatment of children & adolescents with issues of sexual abuse and/or offending behavior. Dr. Pokrajac completed an advanced fellowship in Behavioral Medicine at Harvard University’s Cambridge Hospital where she gained consultation experience and treatment experience for pain disorders, eating disorders, complex trauma conditions, and personality disorders. Dr. Pokrajac has extensive group treatment experience both in outpatient women’s groups, sexual trauma groups, offender groups, eating disorders groups, Ultimate Leadership process groups, Counselor Groups, and inpatient groups. Dr. Pokrajac previously directed several trauma disorders programs and has an extensive list of continuing education courses she has taught on a variety of trauma related topics including Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Dissociative Disorders, Complex PTSD, Compassion Fatigue and Job Burnout, Sexual Trauma and Eating Disorders, Transference and Countertransference, Human Sexuality, Sexual Trauma and Sexual Behavior. Dr. Pokrajac received training and experience with sexual therapy through Masters and Johnson’s clinic in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Pokrajac is trained in a variety of treatment modalities including sexual abuse evaluations, PTSD evaluations, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), Hypnosis, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Therapies, Psychodynamic Approaches, Mindfulness and Relaxation Training, and Marital and Sexual Therapy. Dr. Pokrajac has been an Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine University teaching courses in Counseling Techniques, Psychopathology, and Trauma Interventions. Dr. Pokrajac also previously worked at the Cloud-Townsend Clinic as their clinical supervisor. Dr. Pokrajac received supervised training and experience as a child custody evaluator on complex child custody cases through the Institute of Violence Abuse and Trauma’s Forensic Unit at Alliant University in San Diego California. She worked under Dr. Robert Geffner’s supervision evaluating complex custody cases which involved allegations of sexual abuse and/or domestic violence. Dr. Pokrajac facilitates process groups for Dr. Cloud and Dr. Townsend’s leadership workshops: Ultimate Leadership and One Week Intensive For Counselors. Dr. Pokrajac’s approach to treatment is integrative in that she tailors her approach to the individual, couple, and family. Her goal is to provide the best fit regarding the most effective treatment for that particular condition/problem and the style/needs of the client.
